CLU++ER was founded in 2018 by Andrea Cammarosano (Trieste, 1985), an Italian artist and designer.
A graduate of the Antwerp Royal Academy (2008) and artist-in-residence at the Amsterdam Rijksakademie (2011), Andrea worked for iconic Belgian designer Walter Van Beirendonck and for several clients in the fields of fashion and art. Andrea’s designs and installations have been showcased at MoMA Ps1, New York (Stage costumes for FisherSpooner, 2011), Selfridges, London (Washed Up, curated by Judith Clark, 2010), Museo Della Triennale, Milano (Il Nuovo Vocabolario Della Moda Italiana, 2016), the Arnhem Fashion Biennale (in 2011, 2013 and 2015) and Dover Street Market, London (2018).
Andrea’s language is based on raw elements and simple gestures: scraps of material and ‘found’ objects are arranged into poetic compositions, which in turn guide the creation of clothing, costumes or textiles. His method is programmatic yet interactive, as testified by Ciarla, his stage persona, a performer and activist in the queer scene.
